When relationships breakdown or when things go wrong, there appears to be alot of support available for mothers, but what about dads? I have been asked that question on numerous occasions by many fathers in need of support or looking for answers to help them to make sense of the situation.

Potentially this can leave Fathers/ step fathers  feeling isolated, overun with emotion and grieving at the loss of the relationship,  thinking with their heart rather than their head!  It is during this difficult time when faced with  the loneliness, financial presssure and the thoughts of starting again  that  things can and often  do go wrong, especially when relationships are ending.

Your  behaviour  and the things you say or do during this time could impact upon your children, leading to intervention from agencies such as nursery/school or even college and ultimately the Police or Social Services, if this happens it could have a negative impact upon your relationship with your children.  If you care about your children then I  can support you, please ask sooner rather than later for help and advice.

Father and Child is the only community based organisation in West Lancashire that supports the Father and Child Relationship, I can support you in your attempts to re- establish and maintain contact with your children, offering support with parenting skills including  emotional, behavioural  and practical support to guide you through the difficult times.

The service covers Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and Wigan. Please ask if you live outside of these areas.
